Dataset Readiness Assessment
Before commissioning analysis, find out what your dataset can support.
A spreadsheet may look complete while key outcomes, follow-up times, or confounding variables are missing. We inspect the dataset against your research question and identify the work needed before analysis can proceed.
Who this helps
For researchers who have collected data and need a scoped assessment before commissioning cleaning or statistical analysis. This is particularly useful for retrospective records, survey exports, and datasets assembled from several sources.
What you receive
- Question-to-variable assessment
- A check that outcomes, exposures, covariates, identifiers, and timing information required by the proposed design are present and interpretable.
- Data-quality findings
- An assessment of missingness, inconsistent coding, duplicate records, implausible values, and structural issues within the agreed dataset.
- Analysis constraints
- A review of sample or event limitations, sparse categories, repeated measurements, and other issues that affect feasible methods.
- Prioritized readiness report
- A practical list of corrections, investigator questions, and recommended next steps, separating essential fixes from optional improvements.
Scope to agree before work starts
This assessment diagnoses readiness. Full cleaning, imputation, definitive sample-size justification, statistical modeling, and manuscript preparation are separate services unless included in the quotation. Do not email identifiable patient data; an appropriate transfer method is agreed after scoping.
Questions about this service
Will you clean the dataset as part of the assessment?
The standard deliverable is a findings and action report. Implementing corrections and creating an analysis-ready dataset can be quoted through Data Cleaning & Interpretation.
Can the assessment tell me whether my results will be significant?
No. It assesses whether the data and design can support the question and methods. Statistical significance is not a service outcome or a criterion for changing the research question after seeing results.
What should I send first?
Start with a non-identifying project summary and variable list. We agree on data minimization and transfer arrangements before any dataset is shared.
Request your quotation
Email a short project summary using the points alongside. We review the request manually and reply with any scoping questions before preparing a quotation.
Enquire by emailThis opens your email app. Nothing is sent until you send the email.
