Systematic Review Search Package
Build a literature search that another researcher can understand and repeat.
A systematic review depends on a search that matches its question and is reported transparently. We scope the databases, concepts, access requirements, and search outputs before work begins, so your team knows what the search will cover.
Who this helps
For systematic review teams with a defined question and eligibility criteria who need help with search development and execution. Specialist information-science input and database access requirements are confirmed during scoping.
What you receive
- Search strategy development
- Structured concepts, relevant controlled vocabulary, free-text terms, and database-specific syntax for the agreed sources.
- Documented searches
- Exact search strings, database and platform names, execution dates, limits, and record counts for searches included in the engagement.
- Reference library
- Exports and a deduplicated reference set in an agreed format, with the deduplication approach and counts documented.
- Search appendix
- A reproducible account of the searches performed, with access gaps and other limitations clearly recorded.
Scope to agree before work starts
The quotation names the databases, platforms, update rounds, and specialist input included. Subscription database access must be available or arranged; it is not implied by an enquiry. Screening, full-text retrieval, extraction, risk-of-bias assessment, and meta-analysis require separate scopes. No search guarantees retrieval of every relevant study.
Questions about this service
Can you search every database?
Coverage depends on the question, access, and agreed scope. We confirm the sources and platforms before accepting the work and disclose any access limitations.
Does this include study screening?
No, unless it is explicitly added to the quotation. Search delivery provides records for your team’s screening process; search counts alone do not constitute a complete review flow diagram.
Can you update an existing search?
Yes, subject to reviewing the original strategies and available documentation. The update period, sources, and whether strategy revision is needed are agreed first.
