Measurement unit conversion record ================================== StatMedAnalysis | Original downloadable worksheet | 6 November 2026 Make a unit transformation reproducible without changing the measured construct. How to use this worksheet Identify the original quantity, unit and reporting precision. Confirm that the target unit measures the same quantity. Record the conversion factor, offset and authoritative source before transforming means or dispersion. Check at least one synthetic boundary value and preserve the original data. Save a working copy and keep the original blank version. Use public, hypothetical or aggregate information only; do not enter patient identifiers, credentials or confidential records. Keep source evidence in your approved project workspace. Mark unresolved text fields UNKNOWN or NOT REPORTED with a reason; never substitute zero for an unknown count. Original and transformed file versions Response/evidence: _________________________________________________________ ___________________________________________________________________________ 8. Review of implausible converted values Response/evidence: _________________________________________________________ ___________________________________________________________________________ Hypothetical worked case For a hypothetical affine conversion y=2x+10, mean 5 becomes 20 and SD 3 becomes 6. Adding the offset to the SD would be wrong because shifts change location, not spread. Decision rule and limitations Approve only when the quantity and conversion are unambiguous and location versus dispersion fields use the correct rule. Do not convert between different constructs merely because units look similar.
