Evaluate your question
Research Idea Feasibility Check
You have a research idea. Is there a workable study behind it?
Before committing months to a project, establish whether your proposed question can be answered with the evidence, data, and resources available. We assess an idea you already have and explain what would make it more workable.
Who this helps
For researchers who already have a proposed question for an evidence synthesis or an original study. The assessment is scoped to your project type and the information available at the time of review.
What you receive
- Question refinement
- A structured research question with the proposed population, exposure or intervention, comparison, outcomes, and study type where relevant.
- Focused overlap assessment
- A documented preliminary check of closely related work and, for reviews, existing reviews or registered protocols within the agreed search scope.
- Feasibility and limitations memo
- For evidence synthesis: likely eligible evidence and pooling obstacles. For original studies: availability of key variables, design constraints, and data-access dependencies.
- Practical recommendation
- A reasoned recommendation to proceed, refine the question, or reconsider, including the next checks needed before starting.
Scope to agree before work starts
This is a preliminary, explicitly scoped assessment. It is not an exhaustive systematic review, a guarantee of novelty, or assurance of publishability or statistically significant findings. A negative feasibility conclusion is a valid assessment outcome. Full searches, protocols, and analysis are quoted separately.
Questions about this service
How is this different from the Meta-Analysis Research Idea service?
This service evaluates a question you bring. The Meta-Analysis Research Idea service starts with your interests and develops one proposed question with a supporting feasibility assessment.
Can you assess a retrospective hospital-data project?
Yes, starting with the research question, variable list, study design, and data-access constraints. A detailed dataset inspection belongs in the Dataset Readiness Assessment.
What if my idea is not feasible?
The report explains the main obstacles and, where justified, suggests refinements. It does not promise that every idea can be converted into a viable project.
