ACS replicate uncertainty calculator

Calculate a design-specific standard error from the full estimate and 80 aligned replicate statistics.

Your entries stay in this page’s memory and are not submitted to us. Downloads are generated locally. Reloading or leaving the page clears your entries. Do not enter patient information.

Use ordinary supported estimates in the same units. Enter the already-derived statistic, not raw replicate weights.

The starting values are hypothetical. Results update as you edit. Use aggregate or synthetic inputs only.

Sampling variation only; use the units of the entered statistic.

How to interpret the output

Variance = (4/80) times the sum of squared deviations from the full estimate; approximate 90% margin = 1.645 × SE. Controlled estimates, zero-count adjustments and unavailable replicates require separate handling. Source checked 7 November 2026.
