Deming measurement comparison

Fit a line allowing known relative error variance in both measurement axes.

Enter a positive ratio of y-error variance to x-error variance. Then supply at least three synthetic pairs. This ratio is not the ratio of the observed sample variances.

The starting values are hypothetical. Results update as you edit. Use aggregate or synthetic inputs only.

How to interpret the output

Deming regression assumes independent additive measurement errors with a known constant variance ratio. The slope solves an errors-in-variables problem; agreement also requires examining bias and scatter. This tool gives point estimates only, with no confidence intervals and no support for correlated measurement errors. In the linked deming software, this convention corresponds to xstd=1 and ystd=sqrt(the supplied variance ratio).
