Neyman stratified sample allocation
Allocate a fixed sample across strata using population sizes and outcome SDs.

Use 2–30 strata with positive whole population sizes and positive SDs. Total sample must cover at least one per stratum. If unconstrained allocation exceeds a stratum population, this calculator rejects the design.
The starting values are hypothetical. Results update as you edit. Use aggregate or synthetic inputs only.
Calculation results
- Continuous quotas in row order
- 41.6667, 50.0000, 8.3333
- Integer allocations in row order
- 42, 50, 8
- Allocated total
- 100
How to interpret the output
For equal per-unit costs, Neyman weights are N_h×SD_h. The tool rounds quota shares by largest remainder while ensuring at least one per stratum. This is a bounded practical integer allocation, not an exact constrained optimum. Unequal costs, minimum precision by domain and uncertain SDs require a fuller design.
