DOI and ORCID identifier audit
Normalize DOI prefixes and validate ORCID checksums without sending identifiers to a server.
Your entries stay in this page’s memory and are not submitted to us. Downloads are generated locally. Reloading or leaving the page clears your entries. Do not enter patient information.
Use a DOI beginning 10. or an ORCID with four groups of four characters. ORCID final checksum can be X. DOI syntax checks do not establish registration or ownership.
The starting values are hypothetical. Results update as you edit. Use aggregate or synthetic inputs only.

- Identifier audit
- 10.1000/182: DOI syntax only; registration not checked | 0000-0002-1825-0097: checksum valid | 0000-0002-1825-0098: INVALID checksum; expected 7
How to interpret the output
DOIs are normalized by removing the resolver or doi: prefix and using lowercase for comparison. ORCID uses the ISO 7064 MOD 11-2 checksum. A valid checksum does not prove that an ORCID exists or identifies a particular person. The tool performs no network requests and cannot verify metadata.
