Variable Name Audit

Check proposed names against an explicit lowercase naming convention and detect rename collisions.

Your entries stay in this page’s memory and are not submitted to us. Downloads are generated locally. Reloading or leaving the page clears your entries. Do not enter patient information.

Audit proposed column names against a stated convention before changing an analysis dataset. The defaults are fictional; use one name per line, at most 200 names.

Assumptions and limits

This project convention requires 1–32 ASCII characters, starting with a lowercase letter and continuing with lowercase letters, digits or underscores. It is not a universal software standard and does not check every language’s reserved words. Suggestions trim whitespace, lowercase, replace nonmatching runs with underscores, prefix v_ when needed, and truncate at 32 characters. Duplicate suggestions require manual resolution. Names do not validate meaning, units, missing-value codes or confidentiality. Do not paste patient identifiers or sensitive field names; use fictional headers. Nothing is renamed automatically.
